Practical Learning In Style

It is good to hear that at least at the college level educators are getting noticed for using practical learning techniques to enhance the learning process. According to the Ledger.com Florida Southern College has been awarded a price for its effort to require students to apply their lessons in practical ways.

The school received an award from the National Society for Experiential Education a nonprofit organization that promotes experimental education. The award included a $2000.00 scholarship for a student at the school which participates in the program. Practical Learning Online applaudes the NSEE for reconizing the importance of practical learning in the development of our students for the future.  In our eyes while traditional educational methods are always important the addtion to a hands on approach allowing a student to “practice what is preached” is an effective way to keep the student focused on why school is necessary.
It is obvious that times are tough accross the country with regards to unemployment.  Many of the low skilled jobs that were there in the pass are gone and manufacturers say they are never comming back.  The need for high skilled labor is growing and the need to educate the tis workforce is a necessity.  It is our belief that implementing programs that involve practical learning at all levels of education will help our students meet the challenge of the new labor market.
